Letter to UN Human Rights Commission Geneva (civilsociety@ohchr.org), UN Office of Delhi (unrco.in@one.un.org) and Human Rights Commission of India (cr.nhrc@nic.in).

Appeal to cease the unleashed violence against the students of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi by the Delhi Police.

We as a citizen of India and students of different universities appealing to you to immediately intervene in this brutal incident and stop the Delhi police atrocities against the peacefully protesting students of Jamia Millia Islamia. Last night students were brutally cracked down by the Delhi police while doing protest against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and Implementation of NRC (National Register of Citizens of India) to all over India. CAA itself is discriminatory towards the minority community of India and also against the secular structure of Indian Constitution. While students peacefully protesting against this act near the premises of University, some incident of damaging public property and arsening of buses happened. Suddenly Delhi police made this as a base and accused students for violent protest, in response Delhi police started using pellet gun, tear gas and lathi charge against the students of Jamia. Later, we have obtained many pictures and video clips in which Delhi police themselves were involved in damaging public property and aresning the buses surrounding the Jamia. Delhi police entered inside the University premises without the permission of proctor of university and attacked over the students, university security guards and non-teaching staffs who were present at that time. Police had entered inside the library, reading rooms, department, washroom, hostels and so on and brutally beaten to the students and other members. Lots of students were seriously injured in this attack and hospitalised, many students detained by the police and kept behind the bars in this spine chilling cold of Delhi. Police had also entered inside the girls hostel, used abusive language over them and shutdown the lights of their hostels. There are many horrifying pictures and videos of brutal attack spread from this incident, many students get fainted due to tear gas, many students locked themselves inside the washrooms whole night and so on.
 We are appealing to  you to immediately intervene in this matter and cease the violence against the students and form a committee for a fair and speedy probe of this inhuman atrocity.
